Heat Welding/Flashcoving - 3 Days

This class teaches the skills necessary to professionally install Homogeneous/Heterogeneous Sheet and Linoleum (flat lay and flash coved) as well as heat welding.

Skill Development

  • 3 wall scribing (direct scribe)
  • Proper seam cutting and preparation
  • Pattern scribing for coved material
  • Grooving tools and procedures
  • Flat welding, corner welding, cove welding
  • Skiving tools and procedures
  • Hand fitting commercial sheet goods

Prerequisites / Required Tools

  • 3-5 years commercial sheet flooring experience.
  • Installers should bring hand tools and heat welding equipment.

Heat Welding Class - 1 Day

This class teaches the skills necessary to professionally heat weld Homogeneous/Heterogeneous Sheet and Linoleum.

Skill Development

  • Proper commercial seam construction
  • Grooving tools and procedures
  • Flat welding
  • Skiving tools and procedure
  • Seam coating
  • Advanced - welding on the cove, inside/outside corners

Prerequisites / Required Tools

  • 2 years commercial sheet flooring experience.
  • Installers should bring their own hand tools and heat welding equipment.

Self-Leveler/Patch/Moisture Mitigation - 1 Day

The class is intended to teach participants the proper skills and procedures for applying the Strong System™ of products.

Skill Development

  • Application of trowel applied patch (Ramping/Smoothing)
  • Applying self-leveling for preparation of resilient products
  • Proper application of Seal Strong™ Moisture Mitigation System

Prerequisites / Required Tools

  • 2 years commercial sheet flooring experience.
  • All tools will be supplied at the Lancaster Installation School.

Residential Locking LVT Installation

This course will give installers an overview of product construction, best applications and installation.

Skill Development

  • Product construction/ Locking profiles
  • Substrate Preparation for floating or adhered installation
  • Layout, Fitting/ scribing and cutting methods
  • Finishing the Installation; trims, moldings
  • Repairs; Plank Replacement
  • Stair Installation

Qualifications / Required Tools

  • Approximately 1 year flooring or general construction experience
  • Installers should bring their own tools if available.

Residential LVT and Engineered Tile Installation

This course will give installers an overview of product construction, best applications and installation.

Skill Development

  • Product construction/ installation methods
  • Substrate Preparation for adhered installation
  • Installation of underlayment`s
  • Adhesives; application methods
  • Layout, Fitting scribing and cutting methods
  • Grouting Engineered Stone
  • Repairs, tile replacement

Qualifications / Required Tools

  • Approximately 1 year flooring or general construction experience
  • Installers should bring their own tools if available.

Residential Sheet Flooring Installation

This course will give installers an overview of product construction, best applications and installation.

Skill Development

  • Product Construction: Toughguard II, Fiberglass Reinforced and Felt-Backed Sheet Flooring
  • Substrate preparation for sheet installation
  • Installation Methods; Fully adhered, Modified Loose-Lay
  • Seaming; Pattern matching, seam treatments
  • Adhesives, trowel notch, open/working time
  • Fitting methods for sheet flooring
  • Finishing the installation/ Repairs

Qualifications / Required Tools

  • Approximately 1 year flooring or general construction experience
  • Installers should bring their own tools if available.

 

Certifications

Certification courses are designed for experienced installation professionals. You will learn about proper techniques, tools and materials to help you get the job done correctly. To become certified in the Armstrong Flooring Certified Installer Program (ACIP), installers must pass an open-book written test and a hands-on test with scores of 80% or better.

1-Day Certifications: Lecture only; does not include instructor demonstrations
2-Day Certifications: Lecture and instructor demonstrations

Residential Sheet/Tile - 1 or 2 Day

Tests installer skills and knowledge of Residential Sheet and Tile products through hands-on and written testing. Successful completion of 80% or higher qualifies the installer for recognition and benefits of the ACIP.

  • Grouting Alterna
  • Repair insets
