Energy efficient lighting designs leverage the connectivity between natural daylight, electric lighting and surface reflectivity. By leveraging these three elements, you can design energy efficient light and bring daylight further into a space. High-reflectance flooring can increase daylighting levels, and where daylighting is not a factor, can result in more efficient distribution of artificial light. Designing a space with light reflectively in mind can also contribute to sustainable building certification. For example, flooring with light reflectivity values greater than 25% can contribute to the LEED Interior Lighting Credit. We provide light reflectivity values for all our products, so you have the information you need to select the right material for your project.

The literal translation of biophilia is “love of nature”. When we design with biophilia in mind, we focus on incorporating nature into the built environment to create inspirational, restorative spaces. Of course, natural light is a large component of biophilic design.
For humans, the sun’s rays regulate the processes of the body and we have adapted to be healthiest when living and working in relation to the sun’s daily cycles. Natural light can affect numerous levels of human functioning such as vision, circadian rhythms, mood, and cognition. Research has shown that these effects can positively impact learning, productivity and the overall well-being of building occupants.
