Lancaster, Pennsylvania (April 19, 2017) Even as a global leader in the design and manufacture of flooring solutions, Armstrong Flooring is committed to the better good the community its headquarters calls home - Lancaster, Pennsylvania. And when the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster recently underwent a renovation of its Hill Clubhouse, doubling the size of its Teen Center, Armstrong Flooring was proud to join with fellow local partners to help create a vibrant and welcoming space for the teens that this club aims to serve. Earlier this month, the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster invited project partners to be recognized at a ribbon cutting ceremony held in the newly remodeled section of the Hill Clubhouse.
“Our entry way and vestibule on the first floor is installed with the Natural Creations with Diamond 10 Technology and its created a natural flow for our kids and visitors,” said Erin M. Elliott, Boys & Girls Club Chief Development Officer. “The bright blue flooring in the entry way and the clean, sleek look in the Teen Center gives the space an updated vibrant look that matches what teens are looking for – something cool and inviting.”
The flooring products used to create a bold and welcoming environment for the teens were Natural Creations with Diamond 10 Technology ArborArt Avila Oak Moroccan Sand and Natural Creations with Diamond 10 Technology Mystix Mixer Blue Hawaiian.
Natural Creations Luxury Flooring with Diamond 10 Technology
The original refinished natural hardwood flooring in the clubhouse was categorized as a porous floor. Due to this type of flooring, the USDA’s meal program, which provided meals to teens through the center’s Supper Club, had restrictions of serving meals at the center. With the installation of the durable and high performance Natural Creations with Diamond 10 Technology, Supper Club could resume its activities and serve young adults again in the newly renovated center. The LVT flooring with the revolutionary Diamond 10 Technology resisted scratches, scuffs and stains of carts and other rolling equipment that carries the warm boxes of food.
Cleanliness and Durability
yWith the clubhouse having reopened in February, the flooring was put to the test due to snow and salt from the outside dragged into the center by visitors and members of the center.
“We needed something that would stand against hundreds of little feet every day during the winter months,” said Elliot. “Strategically installed in a space that receives the highest traffic, Armstrong Flooring’s product really withstood the dirt dragged in. It all cleaned up really nicely.”
The total installation time for the entire renovation project took a total of two months, shutting down the Hill Clubhouse a total of 37 program days from December 6, 2016 to February 6, 2017. Due to its fast installation, Natural Creations with Diamond 10 Technology was not installed until a few days closer to the end of the total renovation. The renovated Teen Center now consists of technology stations, Supper Club and a fun space for young adults to gather and collaborate.
“It’s really important that this club continues to serve teens that live in poverty or are facing adversity,” said Elliott. “Having a place to be surrounded by positive friends and adults while providing an aesthetically pleasing environment has a huge impact on their lives.”
