LinoArt MARMORETTE Linoleum JAZZES UP THE UNO STUDENT CENTER

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina severely damaged the student union center – called the University Center – on the campus of the University of New Orleans. Several offices and services housed in the building were relocated to other areas of the campus until renovation dollars could be found to restore the center to its full functionality.

In 2012, seven years after Katrina, the long-awaited renovation began. The flooring specified for the project was LinoArt MARMORETTE Linoleum, chosen for its sustainable features, durability, and vibrant color palette.

The original design intent was to activate the corridors in order to engage the students. To do this, designers created intricate, colorful pathways that guide students from one area of the building to the next. No two pathways are alike. Each pathway is different and unique.

To complete the design, the bright colors on the floor were coordinated with pops of color on other surface materials.

Now the University Center is once again the central hub for UNO’s 12,000 students. It’s the place where they can get their mail, grab a cup of Joe, and hang out with friends in a colorful environment brought to life by Armstrong.
